A Warning to Travelers in East Tennessee - Don't Stay at the Americourt Hotel in Elizabethton

TRAVELERS WARNING: ELIZABETHTON
AMERICOURT HOTEL

I visited the Elizabethton, TN area over New Years Weekend 2006-2007 and stayed at the Americourt Hotel on Hwy 19. I have stayed at this location several times over the past 5 years while it was a Comfort Inn Hotel and I have always been pleased with the quality of the rooms and service. When I made my reservation this time, I was surprised to learn that the Hotel was now an Americourt.

When I arrived at the Americourt Hotel in Elizabethton to check in, I immediately noticed a musty smell in the hall. This should have been a warning sign to leave and stay somewhere else. However, due to the many pleasant stays I enjoyed while the Hotel was a Comfort Inn, I proceeded to check in and head to the room.

When I opened the door to our room, I was almost overcome by the musty, moldy, smell. We turned on the AC unit and vented the room. This helped a lot with the smell, however, it was still highly unpleasant.

As a warning to other travelers in the Elizabethton area, I have compiled a list of major problems during our stay at the Americourt Hotel.

1. Electrical outlets lack covers:

2. Moldy Peeling Wallpaper

3. Mold on the Ceiling

4. Mold in the Bathroom

5. Hole in the Bath Tub!

6. Shower Head Leaking

7. Other Nastiness

In addition to all of the problems pictured above, I found hair in the clean towels in the bathroom. There were also stains and hair in replacement towels obtained from the maid. There were unruly guests a few rooms down from ours, who argued and yelled until 4AM.

In closing, avoid the Americourt Hotel in Elizabethton Tennessee at all costs!
